CLINIC DESCRIPTION and OBJECTIVES:
Players participate weekly in 90 minutes of fast paced soccer training that is based upon proper youth soccer training guidelines developed by the Connecticut Junior Soccer Association and US Youth Soccer. During the first hour of instruction players will be split into small groups loosely based on skill level, they will work on developing soccer skills, knowledge of the game and player positioning. Clinic sessions will include topics that work on the following: dribbling, passing, shooting, ball control, along with other technical skills. In the final 30 minutes players will get a chance to develop and display their skills during small-sided scrimmages. Coaching will be lead by licensed CJSA coaches John Corallo and Gary Kulik along with help from many other highly experienced coaches. Parent participation is welcome and encouraged.
WHY SMALL SIDED GAMES?
Worldwide small sided games for youth players have become the preferred training method for many reasons. USYS and CJSA have both approved policy changes to switch to small sided games for all players under age 12. The reasons these shifts are occurring:
Players will have more touches on the ball.
Experience both technical and tactical situations.
Constant transition from attacking to defensive situations.
The opportunity to be in a goal scoring position more often.
FUN!!!
